Saturday, the New Jersey Devils look to grab their third straight win against a red-hot Carolina Hurricanes club.

The Devils are currently 24-21-2 after defeating the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday. The Hurricanes are 29-15-4, they defeated the Florida Panthers in a 9-1 routing on Friday.

Match Overview

This has been a tough matchup for the Devils in recent history, but this time they might have a few factors in their favor. First is rest, the Hurricanes played just Friday night and had to fly to New Jersey from Raleigh after the game. The Devils on the other have had two days off since their last matchup which was also in Newark.

The second is health, this is the healthiest the Devils have been all season. Carolina is going to be missing Pyotr Kochetkov for the remainder of the season, and possibly Shayne Gostisbehere Saturday.

Keys to the Game

Winning Streak

For many, the criteria for a ‘winning streak’ is three or more consecutive wins. The Devils have won two games in a row twice in the past month, but the last time they’d won three in a row was the week of Thanksgiving. Not only would a win Saturday continue important momentum, but the fact it would be against Carolina could light an extra spark under this team.

Struggles of Freddy

Frederik Andersen has been a rock in net for three teams over his 13 year NHL career, but through 19 games this season he hasn’t been up to his usual standards. An .863 save percentage (SV%) would be the worst in his career by over 30 points.

Where to Watch:

Puck drop for Saturday’s game is set for 7:00 pm ET and can be found on MSG SportsNet.
