The Devils continue their slow march to the end of the season tonight against the hated Philadelphia Flyers. The Devils last game was against the Flyers and they were held in check for large portions of the game, losing 3-0. The only bright spots for New Jersey were a couple nice scoring opportunities for the youngsters, Quenneville and Zacha, and Dalton Prout beating up Wayne Simmonds after illegally leveling Radko Gudas. Prout will not be in the lineup tonight due to receiving a 2 game suspension for the incident and John Quenneville is back in Albany. Despite the absent of these key players in the last battle between these two teams expect there to be some more fireworks at the Rock.

Keys to the Game:
At this point the Devils really need to do the simple things well before focusing on specific keys. Their 3 most glaring problems are not scoring, not playing defense, and turning the puck over. It doesn’t seem that this will suddenly change in 1 game but maybe the emotion of a rivalry game will be able to get the team playing with enough energy to compete. So if the Devils can keep the pace up and control play at some points they have a chance of getting 2 points.

The Rivalry Continues

Players to Watch
Miles Wood and Wayne Simmonds come in as a duo this week. These two guys seem to hate each other. The two have already dropped the gloves once earlier in the season and last game were both sent off for roughing each other up. This will be their last meeting of the season and Wood may be out for blood after Simmonds face washed him last game. Look for these two to drop the gloves at some point.

Prediction:
Neither team has anything to play for but both should be pissed off. The Flyers were recently eliminated and the Devils have won 2 games in what seems like forever. This will be a spirited affair but I think the Flyers will come out on top.
4-3

SB’s Record:
9-4
