The Metropolitan Riveters defeated the Connecticut Whale yesterday by a score of 6-3. It was a wild game to say the least. Amanda Kessel led the way for the Riveters, with five primary assists. She has found her swagger and is making a huge impact.

The first period saw four goals get scored, three by the Riveters. Audra Richards got things started with a power play goal. She would score a second one on the advantage later in the game. Madison Packer would score only moments later, this was her first goal on the way to a four-point night herself. Alexa Gruschow closed out the opening frame with a goal of her own, a goal she really needed, as she has been quiet so far following an MVP season in 2017-18.

The second period saw two more goals for the Riveters up on the board, including the game-winner from Rebecca Russo. This was also the period where Richards got her second goal. Miye D’Oench would close out the Riveters scoring in the third period. This was a game all around that the Riveters could be proud of.

Maria Sorokina won her Riveters debut after being traded from Connecticut earlier in the week. Meeri Raisanen was on the losing end of this, a rough outing for her, as she stopped just 13 of 19 shots.

There are so many different players to choose from as player of the game, but I think you have to give it to Amanda Kessel. Five primary assists are on another level that is not even seen in the NHL.
