What to Watch

Devils Goaltending… Things have gotten very interesting, to say the least, over the past few games. Cory Schneider has won his last two starts in a row, looking spectacular in both games. Keith Kinkaid, on the other hand, has really struggled lately and has potentially destroyed any trade value that he had left. Kinkaid desperately needs this win because he needs to show potential trade partners that he has some value as a back up who can come into an emergency situation during the playoffs if he is traded to a contender.

Penguins Playoff Spot… Who would have thought this would be a topic of discussion at this point of the season? Pittsburgh is only in a wild-card spot by one point, with the Carolina Hurricanes breathing down their neck. If New Jersey pulls off another victory, there is potential for the Penguins to be temporarily out of the playoffs, something we have not seen since Sidney Crosby was a rookie in 2005-06 just after the lockout. The Devils can certainly say they did their part to try and keep them out by completing the sweep tonight.

Prediction

Believe it or not, I do not have a difficult choice in this prediction. The Devils have dominated Pittsburgh all season long and both goaltenders are desperate for victories, plus they have the home crowd advantage. Also, it is David Puddy bobblehead night, so is there really a way around this? I’ll take the Devils to win this game tonight by a score of 4-2.
