Tonight marks the triumphant return of Adam Henrique as the New Jersey Devils take on the Anaheim Ducks at the Prudential Center. As many of you remember, Henrique was part of the shocking trade that sent him along with Joseph Blandisi to the Ducks for Sami Vatanen. Henrique initially tore it up on the West Coast, but has since cooled down. Vatanen hasn’t posted any points yet, but has been a steady force on the Devils blueline, while consistently playing upwards of 20 minutes a night. Overall, it was a good hockey trade for both teams, but many fans were sad to see Henrique go. Henrique was one of the lone bright spots on some really bad Devils teams. He meant a lot to Devils fans. Tonight will probably be an emotional game for Henrique as well as his fans in Jersey. The Devils should give him the thank you he deserves.

Onto the game, the Ducks might as well be sponsored by Anaheim General Hospital because they have been destroyed by injuries this season. Seemingly every key player on this team has missed some time or is still out.

The Devils continue to stay in contention for one of the Metropolitan Division playoff spots, and are only getting healthier. Tonight also marks the return of Taylor Hall and Kyle Palmieri to the lineup.

Players to Watch

Adam Henrique. Henrique always seems to get himself ready for big games and this one will be big for him. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him turn cheers into boos with a goal tonight.

Sami Vatanen. You might as well get used to this comparison now before listening to the MSG crew talk about it for three hours. Look for Vatanen to have a good game against his former team.

Prediction

Despite the injuries and the record the Ducks are still a talented hockey team. This one won’t be easy for the Devils. The Ducks are coming off one days rest compared to the well rested Devils so I think I will take the Devils in this one. They have been playing well and will have a bit more offensive power with Hall and Palmieri back.

Devils win 3-1
