Matchup

The COVID-19 break seems to have done some good things for the New Jersey Devils. As they have won their first two games since the break, including the chaotic victory over the Oilers. The Washington Capitals have always been trouble for New Jersey and are tied atop the entire league for total points. So, it certainly will not be an easy task.

What to Watch

Alex Ovechkin

This comes as no surprise, but anytime Ovechkin is on the ice it remains must-see television. Ovechkin currently sits tied among the league-lead in goals with 24. He also just broke the record for the most powerplay goals scored of all time. The classic Ovechkin spot on the powerplay remains incredibly dangerous, and he is capable of scoring from nearly anywhere on the ice.

Jack Hughes

From a legend in Ovechkin to an up-and-comer, Jack Hughes has been electric this season. Hughes finished off 2021 with a three-point night, including a game-winning overtime goal. His willingness to shoot the puck has not only allowed him to improve as a goal-scorer, but it also is allowing passing lanes to be created with defenders being forced to respect his shot potential. At just 21-years old, Hughes is already one of the more electric players in the league and just continues to grow.
