Match Overview
Coming off a tough 4-3 loss last night, the New Jersey Devils will prepare to lace them up again tonight. The Washington Capitals has been a team that New Jersey has seemed to struggle against for quite some time now. Even with the team playing better recently they can’t seem to figure Washington out. Managing to have a competitive game yesterday is great and all, but now New Jersey needs to find a way to turn performance into points.

What to Watch
New Jersey Devils’ Power Play
It still isn’t always the prettiest thing to watch, but the Devils’ power play actually has seen a bit of progress compared to the beginning of the season. It isn’t hard to improve on how abysmal the unit was at the start of the year. However, being able to actually get some zone time and generate quality chances is big for a team who struggles in the goal department. Jesper Bratt’s beautiful power play goal is just the most recent example, and another way to give your best players more time and space offensively.
John Carlson
John Carlson is currently riding a four-game point streak (one goal, three assists). He is always a dangerous offensive threat on the back end. Washington has an incredibly dangerous powerplay and Carlson certainly is a large part of that. Lose track of the point man and he is sure to make you pay.
