Brief Overview

Things have not gone well for the New Jersey Devils. Jack Hughes is shut down for the season, and the team is also without Jimmy Vesey and Jonas Siegenthaler. To make matters worse, New Jersey is on a five-game losing streak. During the streak, the Devils have given up three or more goals in each game. The team is looking for answers and wins as they head out on a five-game road trip.

The Dallas Stars (40-26-4) currently occupy the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference. Opposite New Jersey, they are playing meaningful hockey down the stretch. Dallas has two games in hand on the Vegas Golden Knights as they fight for a playoff spot. They’ve gone 3-2-0 in their last five games and are coming off a loss to the scorching-hot Toronto Maple Leafs.

Players To Watch

Nico Hischier

The Devils’ captain has been the team’s best player over the last five games. Despite the losses, Hischier has five points in those five games. With Jack Hughes being out, Hischier needs to be the driving force on offense for this team. He currently sits third overall on the team at 2.62 points per 60 minutes. The Captain will be one to watch as he is now centering the top line.

Jason Robertson

The young stud for the Dallas Stars is a must-player to watch. Robertson leads the team in goals with 32, and is second in points with 65. The young gun has a goals per 60 minutes of 1.72 and has a points per 60 minutes with 3.5. Each terrific marks. Robertson is on the top line with fellow mate Joe Pavelski, who has 70 points. Robertson is a driving-force for the Stars and a big part of their offensive game.

Keys To Victory

The Dallas Stars enter this game averaging 2.90 goals per game. The New Jersey Devils, on the other hand, allow 3.72 goals against per game. The key to a Devils’ victory this afternoon comes down to goaltending. Whoever takes the crease will need to be sharp, and the Devils’ defense will have to be at their best against the Stars’ big guns.
