Keys to the Game
Gritsyuk in New Jersey
Over six full years after his name was called in the fifth round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Arseny Gritsyuk has made his way over to North America. Gritsyuk has been the talk of camp early on with many of his teammates and coaches complimenting his elite shot. Devils fans should get their first look at the 24-year-old Russian as he should dress for the team’s pre-season opener this afternoon.
A Standout Defenseman
During the last few days of training camp media coverage, one name that has been spoken a lot is Ethan Edwards. The American blueliner spent four full seasons at Michigan, where he was teammates with both Seamus Casey and Luke Hughes. By his senior year, Edwards was relied upon heavily by the Big Blue, and now he’s turning pro and impressing Devils management.
During head coach Sheldon Keefe and general manager Tom Fitzgerald’s opening presser of the season, the Devils head coach mentioned Edwards with the likes of Casey and Dennis Cholowski as key defensive depth for the team. It seems like we will also get a first look at Edwards in Sunday’s opener.
Where to Watch
Sunday afternoon’s opener can be found on NHL Network and MSG/MSG SportsNet. Puck drop is set for 7:00 pm ET.
