Tonight, the New Jersey Devils look to get back on track against their rivals down I-95, the Philadelphia Flyers. The Devils were beat up by a bottom-four team in the Anaheim Ducks last time out.

The Devils are 16-12-1, good enough for sixth in the Metropolitan division. The Flyers hold a record of 17-10-3, which has them at second in the Metro.

Keys to the Game

Get off to a Hot Start

In games where the Devils score first (there haven’t been many), the team tends to find success. The squad is 7-1-0 when notching the first tally this season, with their only loss coming against the high-flying Avalanche.

When not scoring first, the team is 11-11-1. 11 wins when scoring first is still impressive, but the team needs to work on notching the first tally more often.

Are the Flyers for Real?

Similarly to last season, the Flyers are off to a hot start. Unlike last season though, this time they are putting up the numbers to support their results.

The Flyers are currently 14th in the NHL in Corsi-for percentage (CF%) at 50.24. Even more impressive is their 53.74 expected goals percentage (xG%) which ranks at fourth in the NHL, just above the Devils.

Where to Watch

Tonight’s game can be seen on MSGSN at 7:00 pm ET.
