Overview
Tonight, the New Jersey Devils (44-17-6) look for payback against the Tampa Bay Lightning. After falling in a game in which Tampa capitalized on every chance they had just two days ago, the Devils aim to even the season series. The Devils still have the best record since the new year, but sit two points back of the Carolina Hurricanes for the division.
The Devils hold a record of 43-17-6 and are second place in the Metropolitan Division. The Lightning are 40-22-6 and sit third in the Atlantic Division.

What to Watch For
Higher Compete Level
After the game last night both Devils captain Nico Hischier and Devils’ defenseman Jonas Siegenthaler repeated the same idea: the compete level was not up to par. While the Devils may not have played as bad as the score line indicates. Any type of lapse they had resulted in a goal against. Something that can’t happen against the league’s best.
Right on Point
In a year where Connor McDavid just broke Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov’s record for most points in the cap era, the high-end scorers teammate Brayden Point is quietly having the best season of his career. His 80 points in 68 games puts him on pace to pick up 96 over 82 which tops his 92 in 2018-19.
With Point, Stamkos, and Kucherov still clicking at an elite pace, don’t count out Tampa to make another run this postseason.
Tonight’s game is scheduled for a 7:00 PM ET puck drop at the Prudential Center. You can see it on MSG SportsNet.
