Overview

The New Jersey Devils are suffering through their longest losing streak of the year, taking a tough defeat to the Dallas Stars on Tuesday. This extending their losing skid to three games. The team has played fairly well through this stretch, especially the previous two games, which makes those losses sting even more.

The Devils have played the Flyers twice this year, losing in their season opener 5-2 and winning just a couple weeks ago 3-2. Both of those games were in Philadelphia, making this the first game at the Rock for the Devils this season.

The Devils hold a record of 21-6-2 and are in first place in the Metropolitan Division. The Predators are 9-14-7 and sit seventh in the Metro.

Keys to the Game

Late Goals

The Devils have been struggling late in periods in recent games. Since the winning streak ended, the Devils have allowed goals in the final two minutes of a period in four games going 0-2-2 in that stretch. The goal was especially notable against Dallas, when Roope Hintz scored with three seconds to play. That tally would end up being the game-winning goal.

Konecny On Fire

Flyers forward Travis Konecny has been on fire to start the year, despite his team having a poor record. Konecny leads the team in goals and points per game this season, tallying 11 goals and 25 total points in 24 games played. Konecny has also been a Devils-killer throughout his career, scoring 11 times against them, the most against any team.
