Rise up Devils Army! Your 4-1 New Jersey Devils are back in action tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Tonight’s starting goaltenders courtesy of Left Wing Lock.

The Devils are coming off an action packed weekend, including their most recent game, a 3-2 victory over their Hudson River rival; the New York Rangers. The Lightning won their fourth consecutive game by defeating the Detroit Red Wings 3-2, improving their record to 5-1 on the season.

Stefan Noesen, Ben Lovejoy and Dalton Prout will be healthy scratches for the Devils tonight.

Players to Watch

Adam Henrique– This is a big chance for him tonight as he is promoted to second line center following the demotion of Pavel Zacha and promotion of Nico Hischier. He will be given top-six minutes and the chance to stay there if he performs well. He will be paired with Marcus Johansson and Kyle Palmieri. John Hynes said this morning that he did not see enough chemistry between Palmieri and Taylor Hall, so he split them up. We will see how Henrique does and if this can become a permanent role for him.

Drew Stafford- Following some great play and a beautiful goal against the Rangers, Stafford has been promoted to the first line on the right side. This is a great reward for a very hard working player, as Hynes has paired him with Taylor Hall and Nico Hischier. It will be interesting to see if these line changes will pay off for the Devils tonight.

This is also Hischier’s first game on the top line. I did not expect this to happen after just five games, but he has good underlying numbers through the first five games of the season, so perhaps centering Taylor Hall helps him start racking up the points and potentially potting his first career NHL goal.

Prediction
Expect this to be a great match up tonight between two of the hottest teams in the league. I will be taking the Devils in a 3-2 overtime victory.
