Today’s Starting goaltenders: NJD- Keith Kinkaid PHI- Michal Neuvirth (Projected)

Game Summary

The New Jersey Devils are back in action today to take on the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center. Both sides are coming off overtime victories from Thursday evening. New Jersey took down the Washington Capitals 4-3 while the Flyers defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 3-2.

Who/What to Watch

Keith Kinkaid… It’s the third straight start for the Devils backup goaltender. Cory Schneider remains out with an illness, so Ken Appleby has been called upon on an emergency basis and will sit on the bench today. Kinkaid tends to get rather comfortable in goal after a couple of consecutive starts, so expect him to have another strong performance in net.

Sean Couturier… I could have said Claude Giroux, but Couturier is the Flyers leading goal scorer this year. He has 26 goals and 20 assists, so he is without a doubt the player to watch on the Flyers. Giroux may be the one setting him up as he tries to add to his 40 assists, but Kinkaid will need to watch the stick of number 14 in orange.

Physical Game… It’s Devils vs. Flyers. Would you really be expecting anything less? These teams have a great history of getting very chippy and rather physical with each other. That’s what makes these games even more exciting. Expect another classic in the battle of the Jersey Turnpike.

Prediction

This game is going to come right down to the wire, as most Devils games do. It will be a one-goal game and it is going to be a thriller. Expect a fantastic effort from both Kinkaid and Neuvirth. But ultimately the Devils win 1-0. Give Kinkaid the shutout and Nico Hischier the winning goal.
