Devils Pregame: 6 Game Losing Streak Ends Tonight

Game Overview
The Devils are playing terrible right now. They are coming into tonight off of 6 straight losses. They were able to make a little progress as they battled the Rangers on Sunday night and took them into the shootout before conceding. With the Metro Division seemingly never losing this string of losses has put the Devils 10 points out of a playoff spot.
The Predators come into tonight’s game 1 point out of the playoffs in the Western Conference. They only have 2 more points than the Devils but don’t have to deal with the behemoth Metro Division. They are also a much better home team than road and the Devils were able to beat them in Nashville so that is a positive for New Jersey.

Keys to the Game
The defense needs to be better. I’m sure everyone is tired of hearing it but the defense is killing us. There is very little Corey Schneider can do when he gets no help from the guys in front of him. There really isn’t much more to say at this point. The whole team needs to play better as a whole but it has to start with the defense. The last game against the Rangers was encouraging mainly for only letting in 2 goals to a top tier offense so hopefully that carries into this game.

Players to Watch

Miles Wood has impressed since his call up with his elite speed. He has 3 goals on the season with his last being Sunday in MSG. Look for him to continue to create offense and maybe score again against Nashville.

Ryan Johansen was brought into Nashville to fill their number 1 center role. He has done just that and leads the team in points at the moment with 21. With P.K Subban missing this game look for Johansen to shoulder more of the offensive load.

Prediction: It’s the Christmas season so why not think positive. No stats needed for this I’m just being jolly. Devils win 4-0 in Corey Schneider’s first shutout of the season.

SB’s Record

7-3 (Not to toot my own horn but my last prediction was exactly right so hopefully the Devils can make that a trend tonight)
