Keys To The Game
Markström’s Continued Improvement
It certainly hasn’t been smooth sailing to start the year for goaltender Jacob Markström, but building off of a solid performance on Monday night can really go a long way. Markström has historically had some slow starts to seasons in the past, but coupling that with his injury and things felt shaky early on. His track record of success should be a reason for optimism moving forward, and facing a lower scoring team like St Louis (currently 27th in the league with 61 goals) could be just what he needs to post another strong outing.
Timo Meier’s Successes
Timo Meier had a strong outing Monday night against the Red Wings, posting the games opening goal and an assist on Nico Hischier’s goal. On the year, Meier now has a total of 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists) in 22 games, with three points in his last two.
With Jack Hughes on the shelf, the Devils are going to need their big guns to step up, and Meier has been playing a very complete game of late. Would look for him to end up on the scoreboard for the third game in a row.
Where To Watch
