A new NHL season is almost upon us. The 2025-26 slate is set to kick off Tuesday evening. The New Jersey Devils, specifically, begin their season on Thursday in Raleigh against the Carolina Hurricanes. One of the best ways to familiarize yourself with expectations not only for the Devils, but around the league, is to see what the oddsmakers have to say.
Here are some notable odds on the upcoming New Jersey Devils with all courtesy of FanDuel as of October 2, 2025.
Stanley Cup
The New Jersey Devils open the season at +1400 odds to win the Stanley Cup. That’s good for eighth in the league as well as second best in the Metropolitan Division. The Carolina Hurricanes currently have the third best odds at +950. The Edmonton Oilers open as the overall favorites at +800.
As for the rest of the Metropolitan, behind the Hurricanes and Devils, the New York Rangers sit at +2200, good enough for 12th best in the league. After that, the Washington Capitals (+3000) at 14th best in the league. The Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Islanders are both tied with odds of +12,500. The Philadelphia Flyers are at +15,000. The Pittsburgh Penguins are tied for the league’s worst odds with the San Jose Sharks and Chicago Blackhawks at +50,000.
Division, Conference, And Playoffs
The Devils have the second best odds to win the Metropolitan Division at +310, trailing the Hurricanes. As far as the Eastern Conference goes, they have the fourth-best odds at +650. The Florida Panthers are the odds-on favorites, followed by division-rival Carolina, and the Tampa Bay Lightning coming in third.
Just like Stanley Cup odds, the Devils have the second-best odds in the division to make the playoffs at -330. The Hurricanes are first at -800. The rest of the division goes in descending order of the Rangers (-195), Capitals (-175), Blue Jackets (+195), Islanders (+220), Flyers (+270), and finally the Penguins (+800). The way odds are interpreted means the Hurricanes, Devils, Rangers and Capitals are all favored to make the playoffs. With the exception of the Rangers, all had also made the playoffs in 2024-2025.

FanDuel also has something interesting where you can bet on how far a team will make it and their stage of elimination. The Devils odds of being eliminated in the first round are +185, with the odds for the being eliminated in the second round being +350, and being eliminated in the conference finals being set at +700. The odds for making it, but losing in, the Stanley Cup Finals are just slightly below cup winning odds at +1300. It may seem harsh, but unfortunately, the Devils have only won one playoff series since 2012. That’s partially reflected in the odds.
Team Points
The Devils have quite the lofty under/over point total of 99.5 points. Last season they finished with 91 points, good for third in the Metropolitan Division. Carolina is predicted to do seven points better with an over/under of 106.5. The rest of the division goes Rangers (95.50), Capitals (94.50), Blue Jackets (84.50), Islanders (84.50), Flyers (82.50), and Penguins (74.50). Going off those odds every Metropolitan Division team with the exception of the Penguins is predicted to finish with at least a .500 record.

Player Goals And Points
Jack Hughes is one of the 11 players FanDuel lists for having an over/under in goals. They set Hughes at 32.50. For reference, last season’s goal scoring leader Leon Draisatl is set at 47.50. FanDuel lists 14 players to have an over/under set for points and once again Jack is listed with his being set at 80.50. Last season’s scoring leader, Nikita Kucherov, is set at an over/under of 117.50 points. Jack’s brother Quinn is also listed one of the 14 players listed with an over/under set at 83.50 points, just incase you were wondering.
End of Season Awards
These are hard to judge because there are so many options available to the betting public. The Devils best bet to win a major NHL award is Nico Hischier who currently has the second-best odds to win the Selke Trophy at +260. He’s behind only Sam Reinhart of the Florida Panthers who enters the season at +200.
Jack Hughes finds himself with decent odds for the Hart Trophy at +3,500, good for 11th out of all players listed. Hughes is also in 11th place for the Rocket Richard Trophy with +3,000 odds. He enters the top ten in Art Ross trophy odds with +3,000, good for eight, while teammate Jesper Bratt is not far behind in 11th place at +8,000.
Jakob Markstrom is top ten in Vezina Trophy odds at +2,000. Jack Hughes also sits in seventh place for Lady Byng odds at +1,800. Arseny Gritsyuk is listed with Calder Trophy odds at +3,000.
Newly resigned Luke Hughes is 21st in Norris Trophy voting odds at +30,000. The man who signed him has the 10th-best odds at winning the Jim Gregory Award for general manager of the year with +2,200 odds.
As for some more non-player end of the year awards, head coach Sheldon Keefe currently sits with the seventh-best odds to win the Jack Adams award at +2,500. He’s tied with former Devils interim head coach turned Ottawa Senators head coach Travis Green as well as former Devils, now Buffalo Sabres, head coach Lindy Ruff, and former Devils head coach, now Nashville Predators, head coach Andrew Brunette with the same odds. How’s that for irony?

Compared To Last Season
Hockey Reference keep the preseason Stanley Cup odds from before the 2024-2025 season. Those odds had the Devils at +1,100 which is noticeably, but not substantial, better than the +1,400 FanDuel currently has them at. What is interesting is that FanDuels’ set of odds is coming off a season the Devils made the playoffs. Meanwhile, Hockey Reference’s archived statistics are coming off a season prior (2022-2024) they did not.
The Devils over/under in points in the standings was also slightly higher at 102.50 last season. New Jersey would finish comfortably under that with 91 points. Last year’s, and this year’s point over/under prove that this team is consistently expected to be at 100 points in the NHL standings.
