Thursday afternoon the Boston College Eagles with face off against the #1 ranked Quinnipiac University Wildcats in Tampa, Florida. The Devils have stake in this game as 3 Devil’s prospects are taking part in the Frozen Four. All 3 play on BC and are J.D Dudek, Miles Wood, and Steve Santini.

Steve Santini is one of the top defensemen in the NCAA. This season has been successful for Santini as he has improved offensively and won the Hockey East Best Defensive Defenseman award. A strong skater, Santini thrives on his ability to play physically and knock opposing players off the puck. Offensively he is smart and conservative with the puck. Santini is a junior and is 21-years old so he will probably see NHL time very soon. To read more on Santini here is a previous article on him.

Miles Wood is a left wing and a freshman on the BC but is over-aged (20). Skating on the top two lines Wood has shown his offensive prowess this season racking up 10 goals and 25 assists in 36 games. Wood’s game is speed. He’s an extremely skilled skater and is able to create offense on end-to-end rushes. His speed helps him break past any defenders who take their eye off him. Wood stands 6’1″ and weighs 160 lbs but plays a lot bigger than that. He plays the boards well and is willing to go to the front of the net. Wood’s stick handling ability could use work but besides that he is a solid prospect.

J.D Dudek is also a freshman at BC and is 20-years old. One of the younger members of BC he is relegated to limited minutes. Dudek is occasionally scratched from the lineup but is a decent energy player when he gets a chance in the lineup. Also he plays well defensively as he occasionally receives penalty kill time. Hopefully in the next couple years he can get more time and improve as a player, so we can get a better feel of the skillset he has to offer.
