Overview

After suffering just their fifth loss of the year, the New Jersey Devils will head to Philadelphia for a date with the Flyers. Their first one took place on October 13 and didn’t go as expected. The Flyers were able to take down the Devils 5-2 in both team’s season openers.

The Devils had their first truly devastating loss of the year on Thursday after letting up a goal with eight seconds left then subsequently losing in overtime. The goal is simple, rebound from that and beat the lowly Flyers for the first time this season.

The Devils hold a record of 19-4-0 and are in first place in the Metropolitan Division. The Predators are 8-11-5 and sit seventh in the Metro.

Keys to the Game

Divisional Games

Tonight, the Devils will play just their seventh divisional game of the year, and third in their past four games. So far this season, they’re 4-2-0 in their six divisional games, with the two losses coming to these Flyers on October 15 and the Washington Capitals on October 24.

If the Devils are going to win the Metropolitan Division they need to win the divisional games, especially the ones against the bottom feeders so games like these are actually very important,

Flying Injured

While the Flyers don’t have a particularly good roster in the first place, the injuries they’re playing with don’t help. Ryan Ellis will miss the entirety of the season after playing only five games last year. It’s a similar story for Sean Couturier who hopes to catch some games at the end of the season.

Aside from those two, Wade Allison, James Van Riemsdyk, and Cam Atkinson are all on the injured reserve and not expected to play tomorrow.

Where To Watch

Saturday night’s game at Wells Fargo Center is scheduled for a 7:00 P.M. ET puck drop. It can be seen on MSG SportsNet.
