Matchup

Panic is running wild throughout the New Jersey Devils’ fanbase. This as the losses continue to stack up and the play on the ice remains sloppily inconsistent. The Detroit Red Wings (14-13-3) are an incredibly young and fast team who certainly won’t make thing easy for the Devils.

What to Watch

Goaltending

It’s safe to say there are some red flags being raised when it comes to goaltender MacKenzie Blackwood. Blackwood is still very young and growing into his game, but some of the occasional mistakes seem to be becoming consistent habits.

Once a game it seems like there is a goal scored that leaves fans saying, “That is one Blackwood is going to want back.” Nobody is asking him to be Martin Brodeur. However, for a team who struggles to score, New Jersey cannot afford to constantly be trailing early in games or give up a lead on a soft goal.

Lucas Raymond

Raymond comes into this one with 27-points in 30 games (10 goals, 17 assists). The 19-year old winger is captivatingly creative every time he steps out onto the ice. He can make you pay in a variety of different ways. Raymond may be in a bit of a goal slump currently. However, that hasn’t stopped him from racking up five assists in the last four games. If the Devils aren’t careful, he will find himself back in the goal column before this game is over.
