DAB Pre-Game: Coyotes at Devils (10/20/2015)

The New Jersey Devils will face off against the Arizona Coyotes tonight at Prudential Center with hopes of earning their second consecutive victory of the regular season.

Cory Schneider will make his third consecutive start for the Devils.

Arizona captain Shane Doan, who has been an important piece of the Coyotes franchise since being drafted in 1995, will play in his 1400th career regular season game this evening. Mike Smith is also expected to start between the pipes for the Coyotes.

On Sunday, the Devils defeated the New York Rangers in overtime in thrilling fashion, 2-1. Adam Henrique had two points in the victory. Our recap can be found by clicking here.

Tonight’s game marks the first of two matches between these teams, with one more remaining on January 16th, 2016 in Glendale, AZ at Gila River Arena.

Last season, New Jersey won both games against the Coyotes with a 3-0 shutout victory at Prudential Center and a 4-1 victory in Glendale, AZ.

Who to watch:

New Jersey – IMG_0758.JPG   Mike Cammalleri – The second-year sniper for the Devils has had four points in two games against the Coyotes in a Devils sweater (1G-1A in Glendale, 2G in NJ). He is currently tied with Devils forward Adam Henrique for the point lead among forwards with 4 thus far this season.

Arizona – IMG_0757.JPG Max Domi – After an impressive 102-point campaign with the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League last season, the rookie center and 1st round draft choice of the Coyotes has been exciting to watch in his first five games with Arizona as he has scored 6 points (3G-3A) and has provided a spark to the Coyotes lineup. He and fellow 20 year-old Coyotes forward Anthony Duclair are tied for second on the Coyotes roster in points with 6 a piece.

Cory Schneider – New Jersey’s top netminder comes into tonight’s game after an spectacular performance against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Sunday, with 26 saves on 27 shots on goal. He currently has a 1-1-1-0 record in 3 games, 1.62 goals against average, and a .945 save percentage.

Mike Smith – The Canadian Olympic medalist and Coyotes starting goaltender comes into tonight’s game with a 3-1-0-1 record this season in 5 games. He has averaged 2.26 goals against per game and currently holds a .940 save percentage.
